The Mangosteen

The Mangosteen (Garcinia mangostana) is much loved as a dessert, but scientists have identified that the deep reddish purple coloured inedible rind, which is normally discarded, is the actual treasure pot of biologically active compounds such as xanthones, anthocyanins, and polyphenols.

Xanthones, the specific proprietary polyphenol composition found in Mangosteen are well-described in the international scientific literature and recognised for their antioxidant potency. In particular, α- and γ- mangostin have been demonstrated in various randomised control trials to alleviate joint discomfort associated with the body’s natural inflammatory response.

Clinically Proven Mangosteen Extract

XANTOFLEX® uses the only clinically proven Mangosteen extract from France, standardised to naturally occurring α- and γ- mangostin. Scientific reviews report that mangostins limit both the production and activity of the inflammatory enzyme cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) that controls the activation of the pro-inflammatory and pro-oxidant transcription factor NF-kB. α- and γ- mangostins are also reported to limit the production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), cytokines, and inflammatory enzymes, while contributing to a safe and significant joint relief.

Patented Frankincense Extract
(AprèsFLEX)

The Frankincense (Boswellia Serrata), has gained considerable attention as a potent anti-inflammatory, anti-arthritic agent. 3-0-acetyl-11-keto-beta boswellic acid (AKBA) extracted from the gum resin, is well recognised as the most biologically active compound of Frankincense and is a potent inhibitor of 5-lipoxygenase (5-LOX) and MMP-3.

XANTOFLEX® is formulated with clinically proven Frankincense extract from the USA. The extraction process employs a patented enrichment process, selecting only the most active AKBA, blending it with Frankincense non-volatile oil extract. This synergistic composition results in at least 20% optimised form of bioactive AKBA for direct absorption, making XANTOFLEX® an efficacious joint support formula, demonstrating significant and fast acting results[1].

In comparison with placebo, supplementation of 2 capsules of XANTOFLEX® for 30 days conferred significant reduction in all the pain scores assessed including VAS score by 37.6% (P<0.0001), LFI score by 32% (P=0.0001), WOMAC pain score by 40.1% (P<0.0001), WOMAC stiffness score by 41.3% (P=0.0001) and WOMAC function score by 38.8% (P=0.0001). Interestingly, significant (p<0.05) reductions in VAS and LFI scores were also observed in the treatment group over the placebo group by day 5 [1].

UCII Undenatured Collagen Type II (Native form)

XANTOFLEX® contains an active patented form of Undenatured Collagen Type II by UCII, manufactured through a patented, low-temperature, non-enzymatic process to retain its native structure and clinical effectiveness. Undenatured Collagen Type II has been clinically proven to promote healthier joints by way of retraining your body's defence system to recognise your joints cartilage as friendly material. Taking regular Undenatured Collagen Type II effectively prevents immune cells from continuous attacking against your own joint tissues and at the same time stimulates chondrocytes to start producing more glycosaminoglycans to rebuild healthy cartilage. This process is called "oral tolerance" [2] and is achieved by an oral dosage of 10mg per day (equiv. 2 capsules of XANTOFLEX®). Research suggests that UCII Undenatured Collagen Type II is 2 TIMES significantly better than glucosamine + chondroitin in improving joint mobility and with a faster onset of effects [3].
